First Talk: Prof. Renata Longo Explores a New Paradigm in Breast Dosimetry

Leading the charge in redefining breast dosimetry, Prof. Renata Longo, Director of the Master of Advanced Studies in Medical Physics at Trieste, Italy, captivated the audience with her talk on “A new model of the breast for dosimetry and a corresponding methodology to estimate the breast average glandular dose.” Delving into the necessity and utility of this new model, Prof. Longo’s insights shed light on groundbreaking methodologies that hold promise for enhancing dosimetry accuracy and optimizing radiation therapy outcomes. Her discussion also provided a glimpse into the Joint AAPM Task Group 282/EFOMP Working Group Report, highlighting collaborative efforts driving innovation in medical physics.

Second Talk: Dr. Stevan Vrbaski Explores Quantitative Imaging in Computed Tomography

Dr. Stevan Vrbaski, a collaborator at Duke University, USA, and INFN Trieste, Italy, took center stage to unravel the complexities of “Quantitative imaging in computed tomography.” His expertise in this domain offered a comprehensive exploration of quantitative imaging techniques, emphasizing their role in improving diagnostic precision and enabling personalized patient care. Dr. Vrbaski’s insights provided a roadmap for leveraging computed tomography as a powerful tool for quantitative analysis, paving the way for enhanced diagnostic capabilities in clinical practice.
